RDSA is a humanitarian, Non- Governmental, not for profit Organization founded in 2004 as community based humanitarian organization destined to support marginalized communities, other disaster affected rural and Agro-pastoralist communities living in Somalia.
RDSA is a women-led organization that provides support to women and girls affected by disasters by adopting a holistic and gender-responsive approach that addresses women’s unique challenges, promotes their participation, and empowers them to overcome the impacts of crises. We often focus on promoting gender equality, fostering inclusive participation, advocacy, and targeting to facilitate equitable access to services for those affected and displaced by disasters.
RDSA is committed to fighting against social injustice and poverty in Somalia and to build a future that guarantees everyone suitable living conditions, equal opportunities and respect of their rights.
To strategize its implementation, RDSA works closely with Community Based Organizations at local level to deliver projects that improve lives of affected populations. The focus is to build equality across society in all streams – health care, environment, quality education, access to technology, access to spaces and information for the disabled, protection for vulnerable members.
Mogadishu Main office started operations in March 2004 with the objective of contributing towards the prevention of livelihood deterioration, improvement in livelihood support systems and living standards of pastoral, agro-pastoral and other vulnerable groups in the region. This is achieved through implementation of strategic and appropriate interventions that positively affect the livelihood support systems of target groups. RDSA implements emergency and development projects with emphasis on regional and multi-sectoral programming and participatory approaches. Emergency interventions implemented uphold the LRRD strategy and focused on building the beneficiaries’ livelihood support mechanisms, systems and assets.
RDSA has established good networks with organizations working in the same areas, local leadership, opinion leaders and other stakeholders to facilitate triangulation of feedback
